![]() When making melds, teams can use both their own cards plus those already on the table from earlier rounds – this is called “laying off” onto existing melds. ![]() ![]() A minimum number of cards must be used in each meld according to its rank – for example, you need at least two natural (not wild) 8s before you can add any wild 8s into your meld set. Melds are groups of 3 or more cards that all share a common rank or suit such as three 8s or four 7s of hearts. Play then passes to the other player who must draw and discard as well. Then they must discard one card face up on top of the discard pile. After drawing a card, players may make melds on their turn if they have enough cards in their hand that match certain criteria (more on this later). Players then take turns drawing one card from either the stock pile or discard pile. If the card turned over is a wild or black three, it must be replaced before any action can take place. The top card from this pile is turned over and placed in a second pile called the discard pile. The remaining cards are placed in the middle as a stock pile. First, each player is dealt 15 cards from a shuffled deck.
